Detrans Awareness Day
ImWatson
Detrans day of awareness (12th March) was created to raise awareness and break down the stigma around detransition. We want to let other people who have detransitioned know that they are not alone. There is a flourishing community of detransitioned people who are finding peace, healing and fulfilment as they are.
We also wish to raise public awareness around the specific medical and mental health needs of people who detransition, as there is currently no established care model for people who do so. Mental health care for people who have detransitioned is almost non-existent. Alternative therapeutic treatment for gender dysphoria is not offered by the established medical community. Our unique medical needs are not well understood and medical professionals are often resistant to either provide medical care or accept that someone may need to detransition. We believe that those who detransition need to be given the same level of urgency to care that we had when we identified as transgender and pursued medical transition. What you can do to help:
Share the # on the day to show your support for us.
Listen to the stories and needs of those who have detransitioned.
Learn about our struggles and challenges in accessing proper medical care.
We hope by raising awareness around detransition we might create the change we need and make the world a better place for other detransitioned people. Thank you for your support.
