A Support Group for Transgender Teens 14-18
This group is held @ Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health Department, Thousand Oaks, CA.
This group is a courageous place for teens who identify as transgender, nonbinary, or gender-expansive to meet and support one another in their gender journeys and in living their lives. We invite and welcome trans teens anywhere in transition, whether questioning or transitioning. This group will include questions, answers, conversations, explorations, and skill-building that can include:
Self-compassion & self-assertion
Coming out – when, how, with whom, etc. with family, friends, school, work, community
Social transition, medical transition, what, how and when,
Connecting – individually, friends, dating, community, etc.
Skill sharing: presenting, makeup, hair, clothing, posture, self-care (physical and mental), passing/not-passing, using public restrooms and other gendered public spaces, facing fear, loneliness, etc.
Resource sharing: legal, medical, social, etc.
Strategies for living a happier, more fulfilling life,
And more…
A support group for parents meets simultaneously. Teens can attend whether or not their parents or Guardians are attending the Parent & Guardian group.
